PAKISTAN FLOODS

Cloudbursts. Flash Floods. Devastation Hit Pakistan Once Again

Heavy monsoon rains have torn through Pakistan since late June, triggering flash floods and landslides across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions. Since then, more than 657 people have died nationwide and over 905 have been injured.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been hit the hardest. More than 300 died, most in the Buner district.

In Buner, when a cloudburst dumped 150mm of rain in just one hour, it wiped out entire villages in minutes, killing over 200, injuring 120 people and leaving 200 missing.

Relief teams are trying to reach remote areas, but the scale of destruction is massive and growing. The monsoon season isn’t over yet. More rain is forecast in the coming days. Pakistan is on the edge of another disaster unless urgent help reaches people now.
